Waffel und Parfait

It's Summer season! It should be warm and sunny outside as the sun shines brightly but very unfortunately we are not getting very nice weather up here in North Germany.
The days have always been mixed with warm sunshine, some periodic rain and sometimes even strong chilly wind.

But like the Germans always say, Es ist egal. It means, it's the same. Cold or hot, rain or shine, it's time for some ice-cream!

Today, mama and I decided to make Waffles and Cherry Parfait.

First and foremost, I would like to explain what is Parfait. The word 'Parfait' might be foreign for some of you, 'Parfait' is actually a french word that means Perfect. Parfait is a type of dessert and they are made differently in different countries.

So, here's how to make Kirsch-Schoko-Parfait Cherry-Chocolate-Parfait. (Portion for 4)

Ingredients:
400g Cherry Kirschen1 VanillaPod Vanilleschote400ml Milk Milch
5 Egg Yoke Eigelb
100g Sugar Zucker
100g White Chocolate Weisse Schokolade
250g Cream Sahne
150g Mascarpone
50g Macadamia

1. Wash the cherries clean and remove the seeds. Cut open the VanillaPod and scratch out the marrow. Boil the milk with the Vanilla marrow and the VanillaPod to give the milk a sweet vanilla aroma. Then, sieve the boiled milk. In another bowl, separate the egg yoke from the egg white. Add in the sugar to the separated egg yoke and continuously stir it over a warm water bath. Slowly add in the Vanilla milk and continue to stir until it turns creamy (still over the warm bath). However, do not keep the hot water boiling, turn off the fire once the hot water is cooked.

Sieved Vanilla Milk.
Note that the black precipitate in the milk is the Vanilla Marrow.
Whisked egg yoke and sugar.
Boiling the water to make a hot Water bath

Add in the Vanilla Milk and keep stirring till it turns creamy.
(Note that the colour of the mixture will turn lighter yellow.)

2. Add in the crushed chocolate to the creamy mixture and let the chocolate melt. Continue to beat the creamy mixture but not over the hot waterbath. Beat the Cream (Sahne) till it is really stiff. Next, add in the Mascarpone and then the the stiffly beated Cream. The cherries and macadamia can also be added into the mixture. The Parfait mixture is now ready to be frozen. Pour the Parfait mixture into a Form over a transparent folie and leave it in the freezer for 4 hours.

150g Mascarpone.
(oh, so much fat. ><)

The creamy mixture with the White chocolate, Macadamia, Mascarpone and Cinnamon powder (Optional) added.

Beat the Cream

Fill the Parfait mixture in the Baking Form
Place them in the freezer to freeze.

Now for the Waffle (Portion for 2), you need:
 2 Egg Eier
1 TableSpoon Suger 1 EL Zucker
4 TableSpoon Cream 4 EL Sahne
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon Powder Msp. Zimtpulver
Half a Lemon juice
1 pinch of salt Salz
2 TableSpoon Whole wheat Flour 2 EL Weizenvollkornmehl
1 TableSpoon Melted butter 1 EL fluessige Butter

1. Eier trennen.
1. Separate the egg yokes and the egg white. Beat the egg white with the sugar till it is really stiff. In another bowl, add in the egg yokes, cream, Cinnamon powder, lemon juice, 1 pinch of salt, and whole wheat flour and stir it well with the beater. Finally, stir in the beated egg white and butter.

The next step is making the waffel on the waffel-making machine! :D

As easy as that!

The egg yokes.

The egg white and sugar.
Beat the egg white and sugar until it is stiff(fest).
Until it is snow white and it won't pour out even if you turn the bowl upside down.
Add the Cream to the egg yoke and lemon juice.
Add in the Cinnamon powder, flour and a pinch of salt.
Stir in the beated egg white and butter to the mixture

Do try out and tell me if it tastes good(Schmeck!) ! Feel free to drop me a photo of your version of Kirsche Parfait & Waffel too!

Here's mine! (:

I know that it is still too early to use a Christmas form. We just grabbed any small form we found.

My Waffel and Kirsche Parfait.

NDR Summertour 2012

Yesterday, I was at the NDR Summertour in Niendorf, Hamburg with Mama!!

It was freakin' awesome! The music bands rocked the night.

We arrived there around 5pm and the whole street was already crowded with people.

People waiting patiently for the event to start.

The crowd.

There was 3 music bands that were there to entertain the crowd, Papermond, TheRattles and Marquess.

The Rattles!

The 3 men from The Rattles.
The Rattles were awesome. They got the crowd so into the music that people were all singing and dancing along to the rock songs that night.

The weather forecast turned out to be wrong, it was a fine night. Thus, The Rattles took their time on the stage entertaining the large the audience. They sang for almost 2 hours.

After The Rattles, Marquess was up next. Before that when the Rattles were playing, the crowd consisted of mainly elderly people.  Then suddenly when Marquess came up on stage, the people in the crowd slowly change, more than more younger people started joining in the big crowd with me.

Marquess is a pop-music band orginated from Hannover, Germany but they sing their songs in Spanish. It is actually very unusual to find a German Band that sings in Spanish but they are very fortunate to still receive so much support from the Germans.

I must say that they have gained another supporter now, that's ME!!

Although I did not understand a word that they were singing. The whole song and the words sound so beautiful. I am starting to fall in love with Spanish! I can't wait for my first Spanish lesson after the Summer holidays! ^^

Sascha Pierro the lead singer is a German-Italiener.

Marquess on stage taking over the night.

Doesn't he look cute!

Calling out the crowd to sing along with him.
They were amazing.

Supposedly a  4 hours event turned out to be a 6 hours plus event because the weather was so good and the turn out from the crowd was great!

I really enjoyed the music. My legs were soar from all the standing (approximately 6 hours),  but it was all worth it.

Check out this song by Marquess! It's called Bienvenido! meaning Welcome!
I found the lyrics and the translation of the lyrics too! :)

Introducing my Host Parrots!

Since I arrived in the Baasch family, I have introduced all my family members except my Host Parrots. I have two Host Parrots, they are called Davi and Lora. :D

As the days have become warmer now, we have decided to bring them outside. Two days ago, they have moved into their new cage that papa self built for them outside the house. This is actually the first time ever they both have been outside of the house.

Built by papa and painted by Alicia.
The new cage was abit strange and foreign for them at first but they seem to be settling quite well in it. :)

Say Hi to Davi!

This fine girl is called Lora.

Lora got fascinated when I took my huge camera out to snap pictures of her.

Davi was still grabbing onto the fence.

Another shot of Davi from outside of the cage.
What I am most afraid of is to be bitten by them. They have such strong beaks. When I first came, I got bitten by them and since them, I have kept my distance. Therefore, although it has been 4 months now, they are still not exactly comfortable with me.

But now that they are in this new cage of theirs, I can go in and interact with them more, perhaps even try to get to know them.

In fact, I am pretty sure that I will have lots of opportunity for that in the coming days.. >D

Brought together by fate

I found a picture among the million pictures I have taken since I arrived in Germany.

A picture taken in April when we went to a playground near by our house. :)

<3
I am really glad to have her as a sister. :)

Dearest sis,

Good to hear that you have settled good in your host family! Have a great time and enjoy your first day of school!

Do keep in touch with us! :D Miss youuu~

She visits my homecountry.

Malaysia, welcome my little sister!! Yes, my little sister has already touched down in my home country, Malaysia!

Last Wednesday, we (mama and I) drove all the way down to Frankfurt to send sister off to the airport. We left home around 10.30 in the morning. The journey there was smooth; there wasn't any traffic but still, it took us approximately 6 hours to reach Frankfurt. The worse thing was by the end of the 560km long drive, I could no longer feel my buttocks.

Since she left, I must admit that I do feel a little empty without her company here. No matter what, I have to accept this fact she's away now because it is her turn now to experience an experience of a life time - the life of an exchange student.

I am surely going to miss her dearly. In fact, I miss her already! But, we have both agreed to meet up again in Malaysia once I return. Besides, she's only half an hour away from me! :D
Why do I look like the little one here?

The awesome three in the house. :)
Oh, and guess who I met in the airport?? EMY, the other exchange student from MALAYSIA!!!! I was extremely surprised to meet her! It was really good to meet her.

Emy Sayang. <3
See you in Jan Emy! :) Or if possible before that! Take cares!

To my dearest sister, do enjoy yourself and have the time of your life! We all miss you! Don't forget to miss us too! :D

Thanks also for the lovely puzzle collage present you left me! I love it very much. It was tough to put them together without the guided picture, I took almost 2 hours to finish it. It is done now. :) Thank youuu!  *hugs*

It says, for you from your little sister. <3

Dark Reddish Strawberries.

Strawberry season is here!

Last Sunday, it was a fine weather in the morning and since my sister wanted to eat as much strawberries as she can before she leaves for Malaysia, the three of us (Papa, Alicia and I) went to the Strawberry Farm to pluck our own fresh strawberries.

This is actually something very normal for them here; to pluck and buy their own strawberries straight from the farm. You can simply find information on the Strawberry Farms that allow people to pluck their own strawberries in the newspapers.

The good thing about going to the strawberry farm to pluck your own strawberries is that you can pluck those really dark reddish ones that are fleshy and juicy. Not only that, you can just put them in your mouth while you fill up your basket to take home. My sister and papa went with an empty stomach and returned with a stomach filled with strawberries.

Since I ate breakfast before we went strawberry plucking, I was quite full already but still, I couldn't resist munching on a few strawberries while plucking.

The strawberries farm was fairly large and there were so many others already there to pluck their strawberries when we arrived.

10 KG of Strawberries that we brought home.
We had so much strawberries that day. I made Strawberry Marmelade while Sis made Strawberry Milk Shake and strawberry ice-cream. They all tasted super good.

I sure enjoyed plucking strawberries that day, actually I enjoyed eating them even more. :D

Sis leaves for Malaysia tomorrow and we will be sending her down to Frankfurt Airport! I am so excited for her!

Update more soon! :)
